LulzSec to R.I.P. at Least for the Next Days/Months

After 50 days of “terror” over the internet, exposing governments and huge world wide enterprises security issues, LulzSec said today on an official statement that it’s actions are over.

Although on of the objectives of this hackers group was to have “some fun”, the true is that they really exposed, and showed us how “simple” is to hack some important websites both commercial and public.
I believe Sony was monetary the most prejudiced over LulzSec actions but other websites were also exposed to what we believed were a safe house like AT&T, AOL and FBI.

After some detentions and some risk of people snitching about the true people behind this group, they are retiring. Let’s see if this will be for real or they’re just going to rest a little bit and let the cloud stay off them.

Here the statement LulzSec let on the internet later today:

"Friends around the globe, We are Lulz Security, and this is our final release, as today marks something meaningful to us. 50 days ago, we set sail with our humble ship on an uneasy and brutal ocean: the Internet. The hate machine, the love machine, the machine powered by many machines. We are all part of it, helping it grow, and helping it grow on us. For the past 50 days we've been disrupting and exposing corporations, governments, often the general population itself, and quite possibly everything in between, just because we could. All to selflessly entertain others - vanity, fame, recognition, all of these things are shadowed by our desire for that which we all love. The raw, uninterrupted, chaotic thrill of entertainment and anarchy. It's what we all crave, even the seemingly lifeless politicians and emotionless, middle-aged self-titled failures. You are not failures. You have not blown away. You can get what you want and you are worth having it, believe in yourself. While we are responsible for everything that The Lulz Boat is, we are not tied to this identity permanently. Behind this jolly visage of rainbows and top hats, we are people. People with a preference for music, a preference for food; we have varying taste in clothes and television, we are just like you. Even Hitler and Osama Bin Laden had these unique variations and style, and isn't that interesting to know? The mediocre painter turned supervillain liked cats more than we did. Again, behind the mask, behind the insanity and mayhem, we truly believe in the AntiSec movement. We believe in it so strongly that we brought it back, much to the dismay of those looking for more anarchic lulz. We hope, wish, even beg, that the movement manifests itself into a revolution that can continue on without us. The support we've gathered for it in such a short space of time is truly overwhelming, and not to mention humbling. Please don't stop. Together, united, we can stomp down our common oppressors and imbue ourselves with the power and freedom we deserve. So with those last thoughts, it's time to say bon voyage. Our planned 50 day cruise has expired, and we must now sail into the distance, leaving behind - we hope - inspiration, fear, denial, happiness, approval, disapproval, mockery, embarrassment, thoughtfulness, jealousy, hate, even love. If anything, we hope we had a microscopic impact on someone, somewhere. Anywhere. Thank you for sailing with us. The breeze is fresh and the sun is setting, so now we head for the horizon. Let it flow... Lulz Security - our crew of six wishes you a happy 2011, and a shout-out to all of our battlefleet members and supporters across the globe ---------- Included in this release: AOL internal data.txt AT&T internal data.rar Battlefield Heroes Beta (550k users).csv FBI being silly.txt (200k users).sql (12k users).csv Office networks of corporations.txt Private Investigator Emails.txt Random gaming forums (50k users).txt Silly routers.txt owned.png "

Windows 8 – Hyper-V 3.0 Included!

A virtual machine per machine, seems to be the new feature discovered.

Although some months ago, a person told me that I would be glad to see that Hyper-V could be part of the next Windows version, it looks like that it’s now “official” that it’s really true!

On the most recent Windows 8 leak, which is a x64 version, It seems we can active the Hyper-V feature through the Turn Windows Features on or off menu.
A new extension for the virtual hard disk, VHD (*.vhdx) it’s also available.

Looks like Microsoft it’s really wanting to expand It’s virtualization technology everywhere!
Let’s see where it gets it.

Windows 8 – Build 797x Showing a New OOBE (rumor)

OOBE (Out-of-Box Experience) may be change with Windows 8

OOBE it’s the initial screens during the Windows setup where you are asked about username, password, computer name, etc.
Now Microsoft seems to have abandoned the Aero style interface on the OOBE to show a media-center-like interface.

The rumor says this interface it’s still “locked” in a hidden file on Windows directory. So, maybe some Google search about it, could give us some clues.

So here are more screenshots taken by a user called Chris123NT.

Windows 8 – Installing Using a USB Drive

Like Windows 7 previously did, Windows 8 can also be installed through an USB Drive.

If WinRumors it’s right, Kinect should be available to PCs since today.

Windows 8 May Arrive Fall 2012

Well…an ingenuous leak or just launching the hype?

In the last few year, Microsoft slowly changed it’s secrecy policy about new products.
Learning with it’s rivals, Microsoft understood that was really better to share information with it’s customers to create a certain hype about the future products.
With this new policy, Microsoft shares what it wants, avoiding the compromising leaks of information and makes it’s customers to get more excited to try the products.

The latest news about Windows 8 were “delivered” by Microsoft Corporate Vice President Dan’l Lewin.
On an interview to TechRadar, Dan’l gave some good clues about Windows 8 launching date.
After declaring that “we will be in market - if you look at the crystal ball and just say what happened in the past is a reasonable indicator of what our forward looking timelines will be", Dan’l, a few minutes later said that the beta version of Windows 8 should be available after the BUILD event, that should occurs on September or October 2011.

Following the previous operating system version (Windows 7), Microsoft users the next 12 months, after launching the beta version, to correct bugs and issues found during this period using also the feedback from all users expected to install the beta version.

So, Fall 2012 should be the date to look for the next Microsoft operating system.

Google Innovating On It’s Search Engine Again

Showing that it’s not just sleeping over the good results, Google enables new features on the project that made them famous. The search engine!

I believe that in business and so much other aspects in life, when we achieve any objective we shouldn’t stay where we are and just live of our good results. Instead, we should look how to improve even more the good work.

Google obviously thinks the same way and because of that, they are constantly improving the good things they have and also launching new ones.

This week Google presented two new improvements to it’s world leader search engine. Although this features were available on Android powered smartphones, now you can search using 2 new ways.Using your voice and using images.

The next 2 videos are demos of the features (Google Voice Search and Google Search by Image):

Windows could not finish configuring the system. To attempt to resume configuration, restart the computer. [RESOLVED]!

So, I’ve started to update my Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 images at work when I noticed something was wrong.

After the machine sysprep and MDT upload it to the server, I’ve published the image on my WDS for testing and there’s something wrong when deploying the newly create image to the final machine.
The image it’s deployed, the OOBE runs and…error message “Windows could not finish configuring the system. To attempt resume configuration, restart the computer.”

Google, google, google and…nothing until an Social TechNet article about it!
So it seems that some application I’ve installed on the new image, adds a registry key superior to 8KB and…that caused the issue.

Thankfully there’s a Microsoft Hotfix. Downloaded it, applied to MDT and it’s everything working again!

Here’s the hotfix website*:
Microsoft Hotfix – KB981542

*A note here about the download: I needed x86 and x64 versions of this hotfix and for some reason Internet Explorer 9 just showed me the x64 version (maybe because of my system) so I’ve managed to download it with Google Chrome

Protogon – A New FileSystem for Windows 8 or a “WinFS” Like?

Neowin found this new file system type on an early build of Windows 8.

Like you can see on the screenshot above taken by a member of the Neowin website, it appears Microsoft it’s again trying to implement a new file system to substitute the good old NTFS.At this time, that’s no information available about this. Just that command prompt not yet supports this feature.

Until Microsoft decides to talk about Protogon, we can just speculate about it, so…my guesses:
.: A new partition specially created for Microsoft BitLocker related stuff
.: A new partition just to be used as a “database” for all cached content (like photos, videos, etc)

Let’s wait and see.

The full article from Neowin it’s here:

Building Windows 8–Video #1

Microsoft preparing the way to it’s new operating system!

Microsoft has just released a new video about Windows 8.
Like it’s said in the beginning of the video, they were a little bit secret about Windows 8 but they’re now showing some blasting new features.

In this first video the idea it’s to show the new interface (based on Windows Phone 7 Metro UI) and also the connectivity around social networks, has expected.

I need to say that I’m a little worried about this kind of new paradigm, that’s a lot based on touch interface but…the hype it’s just starting so..

Take a look at the video:
